A lot of people in Batesville think they know who’s behind the progress in this town.

Some do. Most don’t.

Jolene Rockwood has had more impact on this community than I could ever hope to — no matter how many elections I win or microphones I hold.

She’s been part of the things that actually matter. And she’s done it without ever needing the spotlight to say, “Look what I did.”

That’s rare.

What means even more to me is this — she believes in me.

She has pushed me, trusted me, encouraged me, and handed me opportunities I wouldn’t have stepped into on my own. If I was on that stage tonight, it’s because she believed I should be.

She’s inspired me — and countless others — to lift where we stand. To do the work right in front of us. To build without applause.

Thank you, Jolene, for leading without ego. For believing in this town. And for believing in me.

Batesville is better because of you. Thank you.
